Its fruits, of hexagonal geometric beauty, are exquisite and sacred to many cultures of pre-Columbian America originating from the area where this semi vine grows, including Mayan, Aztec and Tupi Guarani. Fruit Salad Tree is represented in the Real Alcazar with beautiful specimens, especially in the so-called English garden where it grows climbing trees and walls; or in the Garden of the Poets, where 'prairies' composed of this species extends under the shade of the orange trees.
