The toughest of the genus Justicia comes from South Brazil and other tropical and subtropical America, although it can be found naturally up in the northern part of the US. The name of this shrub is dedicated to James Justice (1698-1763), horticulturist considered the father of Scottish landscape. The jacobinia is a plant that needs environmental humidity: next to one of the wettest areas of the gardens of the Real Alcázar, near Mount Parnassus of the Garden of the Cross, we can just find it. The Parnassus is an artificial structure during the Renaissance and Baroque was adorned by sculptures depicting gods of classical mythology who acted as suppliers to form a fountain and, in turn, remember that holy mountain where Apollo, the Muses and other inspiring divinities of the arts met. In the gardens of Real Alcázar they bloom for most of the year with a characteristic pink purple.
